The Truth Comes Out
By now we're all aware of of Joe Wilson's outburst on the floor of Congress during President Obama's speech. When the President said that his health care plan would not cover those who are here illegally, Congressman Wilson yelled out "You lie". As the dust settled on the issue, all of the focus seemed to be on "civility" and alleged racism. Let's take a look here and see who is telling the truth. Does President Obama intend to extend his health care plan to those who are here illegally?
On Wednesday, President Obama spoke to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. He had the following to say.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken, That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else. "
"If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."
It is here that we see the real plan. President Obama does intend to give those who are here illegally access to his health care plan. He just intends to make them legals first. Now, some would call this"splitting hairs" or "parsing words". I'm going to call it what it is. Lying. And I'm going to use the President's own words to make this case.
On July 23rd of this year, President Obama said "This is not just about the 47 million Americans who don't have any health insurance at all…". Then, in his speech before Congress, he said "There are now more than 30 million American citizens who cannot get coverage."
Why the change in numbers? Return to the beginning of the article. Just as when public outrage forced the Administration to remove the end of life consultations from the bill, it is now forcing them to remove health insurance for illegals from the bill. And with new legislation comes new rhetoric. Hence, the President has changed his numbers to no longer include the illegal aliens that will no longer be covered by the program.
The difficulty for the President is created by his speech before the Hispanic Caucus. Notice, he may have changed the rhetoric, but he has not changed the intention. Hence, when he appears before his audience that is pushing for health care for illegals, he must explain the change of rhetoric. He explains to them the new approach. Rather than insuring the illegals, we will make them legal and thus qualify them for coverage.
This seems to be the model for President Obama to follow. When caught doing something wrong, he feigns outrage then says the rest of us must change our behavior to make up for his shortcomings. He was a compassionate community organizer like Jesus, not a Governor like Pontius Pilate, who killed Jesus. And Jesus healed the sick, so obviously he would support universal health care, right? Wrong! If Jesus healed the sick, and he was a community organizer, that would mean he thought it was the job of the community organizer to heal the sick, not the Government. Otherwise, he would have lobbied Pontius Pilate for universal health care. Yet we are supposed to ignore the fact that he was also incompetent as a community organizer, and allow him to bankrupt us trying to fix it now that he is the Governor.
He throws around sayings like "I am my brothers keeper" while he accepts campaign donations from his destitute Aunt Zeituni who depends on the charity of others for her daily existence. Yet I am supposed to say yes, I must keep my brother, even if he wasn't really my brother and just snuck in my house and is pretending to be my brother. But I should never question the Messiah about what being my brothers keeper means. I should never ask about Aunt Zeituni funding his campaign off the back of his Aunt's welfare check, or his brother George living in a hut off twelve dollars a month.
The key to understanding any of this is the key to understanding all of this. President Obama doesn't mean I, as in I Barack Obama am my litteral brothers keeper. He means I, as in the societal I am all of our brothers keeper. Let me rephrase it how he means it. "The State is my brothers keeper". And if the State is my brothers keeper, and we are all brothers, then the State is the keeper of all of us. And if the needs of the poor are the concern of the State, then the pocket book of the rich is the property of the State. Thus, there is no need the State cannot fulfill, and no property it cannot seize for the fulfillment of that need. So when you discover he plans to provide health insurance to illegal aliens, he may change the language and he may change the approach, but he will never change the end result. Because he is The State, and he is your brother's keeper.
All of this will lead any true Conservative to see that there is no room for a compromise to be made here. It is all or nothing. Either I am my brothers keeper, and I as a lawyer offer legal help to my Aunt to get her legal status here in the U.S., or The State is my brothers keeper, and I become The State and change the laws that affect her legal status.
